BELLWOOD POLICE OFFICER CHARGED WITH OFFICIAL MISCONDUCT

BELLWOOD, Ill. — A Bellwood police officer has been charged with official misconduct after prosecutors alleged he shared confidential law enforcement information with an acquaintance who was a suspect in a police investigation.
According to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, Officer Michael Davis is accused of providing non-public law enforcement information to a suspect connected to an attempted traffic stop.
Authorities said the attempted traffic stop escalated when shots were fired at a police vehicle. Prosecutors allege Davis shared information related to the investigation with the suspect, leading to the official misconduct charge.
Davis has served with the Bellwood Police Department since January 2025. He was arrested Friday and appeared in court Saturday, where a judge ordered his release pending trial.
His next court appearance is scheduled for July 21.
The investigation remains ongoing.
