FOUR ARRESTED AFTER CHAOTIC JULY 4 INCIDENT LEAVES NORTH CHARLESTON OFFICERS UNDER ATTACK
NORTH CHARLESTON, South Carolina — Four people have been arrested and additional arrests are expected following a chaotic Fourth of July incident that police say escalated from complaints about fireworks to assaults on officers and reports of gunfire.
According to authorities, officers responded to reports of teenagers shooting fireworks at passing vehicles and multiple gunshots near a large party.
When officers ordered attendees to leave the gathering, fights reportedly broke out and additional gunfire was reported. During the response, police said officers were assaulted while attempting to restore order.
Investigators also recovered numerous firearms, ammunition, and what authorities described as a makeshift spear at the scene.
Police have confirmed that four people have been arrested in connection with the incident and said the investigation remains ongoing, with additional arrests anticipated.
Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the identities of those arrested or the specific charges they may face.
