WATERBURY, Conn. — A backyard Fourth of July celebration in Waterbury turned dangerous Saturday night when powerful winds estimated at more than 80 mph swept through the area, sending guests scrambling for safety as multiple trees came crashing down within seconds.

Video shared on social media captured the frightening moment the storm intensified. As strong winds ripped through the backyard, partygoers quickly ran for cover while large trees snapped and fell around the property.

Despite the dramatic footage, there have been no immediate reports of serious injuries connected to the incident.

The storm was part of a line of severe weather that moved across portions of Connecticut over the holiday weekend, bringing damaging wind gusts, heavy rain, and scattered power outages.

The video has since gained widespread attention online, with many viewers expressing relief that those attending the gathering appeared to escape without major injuries.

Officials continue to remind residents to monitor weather alerts during severe storms and seek shelter immediately when high winds or dangerous weather conditions develop.
