TOURIST SERIOUSLY INJURED AFTER TRYING TO STOP TIMES SQUARE ASSAULT, SOURCES SAY
NEW YORK, N.Y. — A tourist was seriously injured after allegedly trying to stop a violent assault in Times Square, according to law enforcement sources.
The incident occurred Friday when a group that regularly gathers in the area allegedly attacked a man before turning their attention to the tourist who attempted to intervene.
According to sources, the tourist was beaten so severely that he suffered broken eye sockets, multiple broken ribs, and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Law enforcement sources say the group has allegedly been connected to multiple violent assaults in the Times Square area over the past several years. Officials also told sources that many of the individuals involved are juveniles who have been arrested previously but were later released.
Authorities have not announced any arrests in connection with Friday’s assault or released the identities of those involved.
