MARYDEL, Maryland — A U.S. Army veteran was detained during an encounter with federal immigration agents near Route 311 in Marydel, Maryland, according to video recorded at the scene.
The incident involved two brothers who were reportedly serving as community observers after receiving reports that immigration agents were operating in the area near the Delaware border.
Video from the scene shows agents taking one of the brothers to the ground while the other records and questions the detention. During the encounter, the man filming can be heard shouting that his brother is “fully legal” and a military veteran.
The recording also captures a tense exchange between the man filming and agents at the scene. At one point, agents appear to warn the man about his actions while he asserts his right to record under the First Amendment.
