Family Launches GoFundMe to Support Oscar Granados Colindres’ Mother After Tragic Death
WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. — Family and friends of 17-year-old Oscar Granados Colindres are asking the community for support after launching a GoFundMe to help his mother with funeral expenses following his tragic death.
Oscar was killed during a police-involved incident in Wappingers Falls on the morning of Saturday, June 27. His death has left loved ones grieving as they seek answers and justice.
The fundraiser describes Oscar as a deeply loved son, relative, and friend whose loss has devastated everyone who knew him.
“On the morning of Saturday, June 27, the life of Oscar Granados Colindres was taken, leaving his family and friends heartbroken and filled with sorrow,” the fundraiser states. “Every life is precious—just as Oscar’s was—and this unexpected loss has left us with unimaginable pain during this difficult time.”
Organizers say donations will help cover funeral expenses and provide support to Oscar’s mother as the family navigates the difficult days ahead. They also say they hope to honor his memory while continuing to seek justice.
A message shared with the fundraiser includes verses from Proverbs 17:17 and Psalm 46:1, offering comfort and encouragement during the family’s time of grief.
“If it is in you to help with what you can, it would be very much appreciated. This goes for the funeral home and Oscar’s mother,” the family wrote.
Authorities have identified Oscar as the teenager who died during Saturday’s police-involved shooting in the Village of Wappingers Falls. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office under the oversight of the New York State Attorney General’s Office.
