Man Arrested After Riding Flatbed Truck Across George Washington Bridge
FORT LEE, N.J. — A 28-year-old Fort Lee resident was arrested after video showed him riding on the exposed bed of a moving flatbed truck as it crossed the George Washington Bridge toward New Jersey, authorities said.
Port Authority police identified the man as Arnesia Crawford. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. on Sept. 3 on the bridge’s upper level as the truck traveled toward Fort Lee.
Video recorded by another motorist shows Crawford standing and moving across the trailer while the truck continued through traffic. Drivers can be heard honking and attempting to alert the truck’s driver.
Port Authority officers removed Crawford from the truck after it reached Fort Lee, police said. He was charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
Authorities have not publicly detailed what allegedly occurred during the arrest that led to the aggravated assault and resisting arrest charges.
Crawford was later transported to a hospital for further evaluation.
