Lil Durk Speaks Out After Murder-for-Hire Acquittal
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Lil Durk has issued his first public message after being acquitted of all charges in a federal murder-for-hire trial.
In an Instagram post, the Chicago rapper thanked his family, attorneys and supporters for standing by him throughout the case.
“Against all odds, we’re stronger together,” Durk wrote. “Allah doesn’t make mistakes.”
Durk, whose legal name is Durk Banks, said he felt the support and positive energy surrounding him. He also expressed his desire to be released so he could help children and bring unity back to communities.
A federal jury found Durk not guilty of conspiracy, stalking and murder-for-hire charges connected to the 2022 shooting death of Saviay’a Robinson near the Beverly Center in Los Angeles.
Prosecutors alleged that Robinson was killed during an unsuccessful attempt to target rapper Quando Rondo. They claimed the alleged attack was retaliation for the 2020 killing of Durk’s friend, rapper King Von.
Durk denied participating in the alleged plot. His defense attorneys argued that the attack was carried out without his knowledge and challenged the credibility of witnesses who cooperated with prosecutors.
Two of Durk’s co-defendants, Deandre Wilson and David Lindsey, were convicted of stalking-related charges but acquitted of the murder-for-hire counts.
Despite being cleared in this trial, Durk remains in federal custody. He is scheduled to face a separate trial on racketeering, murder and firearms charges beginning October 5. Durk has not been convicted in that case. Reuters and Associated Press
