High-Speed Police Chase Ends in Multi-Vehicle Crash in Newburgh
NEWBURGH, NY — A late-night police pursuit ended in a crash near Washington and Lake streets in the City of Newburgh, leaving multiple vehicles heavily damaged and one vehicle overturned.
Witnesses told Urban Updatez that the pursuit traveled through the city near Newburgh Free Academy before reaching Washington and Lake streets. One community witness said the fleeing vehicle ran a red light and nearly struck her as several police vehicles followed behind.
Video shared with Urban Updatez shows police vehicles traveling at high speed during the pursuit. Separate footage recorded after the crash shows an overturned vehicle, another heavily damaged vehicle, police officers and debris scattered across the scene.
Witnesses reported that one or two additional vehicles may have been struck. Urban Updatez has not independently confirmed the total number of vehicles involved or whether anyone suffered serious injuries.
A person was reportedly taken into custody following the crash. Urban Updatez is withholding the individual’s name until authorities officially identify the person and release additional information.
